What is Fostering?

What is Fostering?

Fostering is a way of offering children and young people a safe, stable home while their own family is unable to look after them.

Fostering can be short term or long term. It can be for a few days, weeks, months or years. Foster carers care for children from ages 0 – 18. Some children may return to their birth families or other family members. Others may be supported through continued fostering until they are ready to live independently or some may move onto adoption or residential care. Foster carers look after children in their own homes and provide them with the secure and nurturing environment they need.

Fostering is challenging but rewarding.

Foster carers play a vital role in making a real difference in children’s lives.
